The Renaissance of Dallas Parks: < em>A conversation with Willi s Winters and Robert Decherd, moderated by Robert Wilonsky
< p class="m-3798770968910615653msolistparagraph">On October 14, Dallas will celebrate the opening of the 3.4 -acre Pacific Plaza. Located in the heart of Downtown Dallas, this urban oa sis is the latest advancement for parks in Dallas.
Indeed, since the opening of Klyde Warren Park in 2012, the city has undergone a “parks renaissance,” including a $311 mil lion capital bond program, the addition of over 40 miles of trails, and the acquisition of nearly 250 acres of land for new parks. Today, 69% of Dalla s residents have a park within a 10-minute walk of their home.
Behind many of these achievements s tands Dallas Park Department Director Willis Winters and Parks for Downtown Dallas Foundation Robert Decherd. Join us on for an insightful and inspiri ng conversation with these two leaders for Dallas parks, moderated by Dalla s Morning News reporter Robert Wilonsky.
Topics will include the history of Dallas parks, the grow th of urban parks in Downtown Dallas, lessons learned from the 2002 Renaiss ance Plan and other plans, and what’s next for the city’s park system.
