Moderator: Betsy del Monte, FAIA, LEED BD+C, Founding Principal of Transform Global
Betsy del Monte, FAIA, LEED BD+C, is the Founding Principal of Transform Global, formed to engage communities through collaboration, advocacy and education, while protecting the environment and natural resources. She was formerly a Principal Architect and Director of Sustainability for The Beck Group. Betsy helped create and teaches a Masters in Sustainability and Development at the Lyle School of Engineering of SMU, where she has the opportunity to research many aspects of sustainable and resilient living. She has been a visiting lecturer at University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at Arlington, Rice University, University of Virginia, and Boston Architectural College.

Betsy has been named a Fellow by the AIA and as a Senior Fellow in the Design Futures Council. Betsy is past president of AIA Dallas and North Texas Green Building Council. She sits on the boards of North Texas ULI, Dallas Habitat for Humanity, bcWorkshop and The Trinity Commons Foundation. She is involved at national, state and local levels with multiple groups focused on sustainable environments.

Paris Rutherford, Principal of Catalyst Urban Development
Paris Rutherford is Principal of Catalyst Urban Development, a private real estate development company focused on the creation of Great Places, as measured through economic, experiential and social success. Since its inception in 2009, Catalyst has arranged over $2.3B in debt and equity, specializes in public/private partnerships, and is currently implementing $315M in mixed-use and urban housing development. Paris has more than 25 years of experience in the creation of successful places in the United States, Mexico and South America. Through these efforts, the plans and developments Paris has worked on have received over 90 national, regional and local awards. Prior to forming Catalyst, Paris was President of Woodmont Investment Company, Practice Leader of RTKL Associates’ Global Planning Practice, and Director of RTKL itself. His work has been published in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Urban Land Magazine, among others; and he has spoken at the National Press Club, ULI, ICSC, and been featured on CNBC’s Closing Bell, and PBS’s News Hour. Paris is the chair of the mixed-use council for ULI, urban design task force for the GDPC, and serves on various boards at Harvard, UTA and the City of Dallas.

Robert Kembel, Principal of The Nehemiah Company
Robert (Bob) Kembel has been a member of the Congress for New Urbanism and Urban Land Institute along with various trade and builder organizations. Bob is a principal of The Nehemiah Company, which partners with local city and county governments in redevelopment of substantial infill locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex with local municipalities to achieve both quality and long term sustainability. He successfully converted an entrepreneurial land brokerage and development operation into an institutional platform for master-planned community development and multi-family development, most notably orchestrating one of the largest public/private partnerships in the DFW metroplex.

Paul Chapel, RA, LEED AP, Principal at Paul Chapel + Associates
Paul Chapel, RA, LEED AP, Principal at Paul Chapel + Associates currently consults on design, development and project management for hotels, land planning/MU district placemaking, historic adaptive reuse, retail/boutique shops, and great restaurants and bars. He continues to be involved in many exciting design collaborations at Trinity Groves, including the planning of exciting new mixed-use projects. Paul has worked in leadership/ownership positions inside both traditional architecture/interior practices as well as multi-discipline A/E organizations in Dallas/Austin and the Portland/Seattle area. His professional experiences include both large and small projects in the US (and abroad) on a wide range of project types including: Corporate/Workplace, Renovation/Adaptive Reuse, Hospitality, Retail/Mixed-use, High Tech/Industrial, Residential, Light Medical and University facilities.
